The modern fashion industry has relied on synthetic fabrics for a very long time and this in consequence has created a life-threatening waste problem around the world.
In response, natural materials are coming to the forefront and we now more than ever appreciate their incredible environmental attributes along with their very unique quality, resistance, longevity and to us most importantly, biodegradability.
We, see all this positives aspects as a very innovate, successful and also very overlooked and underdeveloped side of the sustainable fashion industry and based on this we have created the Phoenix Biodegradable Program.
We think all fashion garments should behave like a living organism, quite the same as food, and should have a life cycle consistent of beginning, middle and end. With this program our efforts will be focus on testing and analyzing the biodegradable process of our sustainable fabrics in order to better understand their properties and how these can return to the land not only as a natural material but as potential compost product for farms. We believe that studies and initiatives like this one could help complete a very important circle in our economy and could potentially create an endless cycle of rebirth for these unique textiles.
To achieve this, we have a long list of research and testing ahead of us, from raw materials to chemicals components, farming practices and production but our first stage has already began and it follows the steps below:
1. First test of the biodegradable process of our current fabrics. (Current state)
2. Analyze the components and chemical levels of first test.
3. Second test of the biodegradable process of our current fabrics with upgraded full organic compost material mix and larger sample amount.
4. Analyze the components and chemical levels of second test.
This work will allow us to not only to help complete a very important circle but to improve the quality of these materials which will have both an environment and commercial impact in fashion.
Nature is one of the most important parts of our lives and imagining how can we move forward with it mixed with fashion is one of our main goals and more than words we wanted to take action so here we are.
